Dominique is one of the rare internationally renowned breathing masters.

Dominique Lonchant, otherwise reputably known as the ‘Breathing Master’ is the man behind the success of a lot of entertainment personalities. Having acquired and mastered the Pranayama Yoga technique (the extension and control of the breath) in Pondicherry, South India more than three decades ago, Dominique has since been traveling around the world and has taught breathing techniques in many countries including; India, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, USA, Brazil, Africa, Australia, and Europe

 A French native and now based in France again after more than 25 years abroad, he is currently working with artists in preparation for their plays, shows or musicals as well as teaching his breathing techniques online and around the world. Dominique has taught world-class celebrities.

Dominique became committed to forging a career in health, fitness and spirituality at a very early age. He received his initiation and first tuition in Yoga in a Buddhist temple in Hikkaduwa / Sri Lanka. After 6 months of training he moved to India to study under the world-renowned Dr. Swami Gitananda, who recognized special qualities in Dominique and thereafter he has become one of his most outstanding and talented students.

Over the years, Dominique prioritized the extreme importance of breathing. These days his work and philosophy is entirely related to the breathing system.

He deeply believes that anyone without proper breathing control is unable to think and act positively according to nature. That is why Dominique states that the world has reached its worst chaotic moments because of massive global pollution and life styles that are so far removed from the way of nature, such as in bad health habits and poor breathing. These factors influence how we think and respond.

Superficial breathing will influence the brain in a negative fashion as the brain does not receive enough oxygen and will then transmit wrong messages to the rest of our system. To get a perfect breathing system, we must simply re-educate our thoracic cage.

A few exercises accompanied with some deep breathing will allow every part of the thoracic cage to expand wide enough so that every single alveoli of the lungs will be correctly inflated with air. Everyone can have access to this marvelous technique. It takes only a few minutes practice every day. Indeed, Dominique’s distinctive and efficient style of teaching focuses mainly on the breathing techniques since he feels it is an important aspect that is being overlooked in most Yoga classes.

He firmly believes in the immense power and real benefits proper breathing has on any individual of any profession.

 “Any form of Yoga begins with the breath. And it is when we understand and master the Art of Breathing that we can achieve whatever we’ve decided to achieve. I have been teaching for more than 30 years and very early on I discovered the benefits of good breathing. For example, I discovered that artists and athletes (singers, musicians, actors and anyone practising sport intensively or not) by mastering these techniques, were able to obtain very good results in their own art; tremendous effects on the voice, better practice on wind instruments, and better performance on running, diving etc.  This is true for every one of us; For breathing is life. ” explains the Breathing Master.
